Adam Newton was born on August 26, 1965, as the eldest son to parents George and Marilyn Newton. He is also the older sibling to brother Neil and sister Deanna. Growing up in Liberty City, Adam showed a great deal of admiration for those who worked with their hands and often helped out his father in his own construction company. During his high school years, he had a relationship with Diane Taylor. However, the relationship was short-lived after Adam abruptly left Liberty City with his family.
In 1987, Adam married Madison Miller. Together, the pair has a daughter, Ava. Following Ava’s birth in 1988, Adam and Madison begin to experience some strain in their relationship, often leading to verbal arguments and several trial separations, all leading back to reconciliation. Following his father’s retirement in 1999, Adam took over the family construction business as a carpenter in his own right. Adam and Madison suffer a miscarriage of their unborn second child in 2001, further distancing the couple.
Character history
In December 2010, Adam returns to Liberty City and finds himself on the doorstep of Diane Taylor. Their interaction is brief, yet intense. He reveals his intention to tie up loose ends from his former days of living in Liberty City, as well as mend some of the broken relationships he lost when he left, including his relationship with Diane. In June 2011, Adam and Diane have a close interaction, and it is during this time that Adam reveals his longing feelings for her. In the heat of the moment, the pair nearly embrace in a passionate kiss; however, they restrain themselves.
In October 2011, Adam and Diane give in to their feelings for each other and have sex in his hotel room; following their sexual reconnection, his estranged wife, Madison, arrives at his hotel room and confronts the pair for the betrayal they had just committed. Madison then reveals to Adam that their daughter would soon be arriving in town and that she hopes, for the sake of their daughter, that they can put on a brave face, despite the rocky status of their marriage.
Torn between both women, Adam confesses to both Madison and Diane, revealing that they each would receive a letter revealing his true intentions concerning his relationships with each woman. In the end, Adam chooses to continue his relationship with Diane, serving Madison divorce papers that were re-filed from the original file date of 1993.
In early 2012, finally divorced from Madison, Adam moves in with Diane, and they officially begin living their lives together as a committed couple. Their happiness and solitude is short-lived when Adam’s daughter, Ava, arrives in town and accuses him of splitting their family up and destroying her life, siding with her mother. However, when Ava overhears Madison’s plan to turn her against her father, she reluctantly begins to rebuild her relationship with him and Diane following Madison’s leave from Liberty City. By February 2013, Adam proposes to Diane, following the finalisation of his divorce from Madison.
