In August 2001, nearing their eighteenth wedding anniversary, Bradley uncovers the truth: Valerie had been having an affair with Andrew Bradshaw. Humiliated and hurt, Bradley immediately files for divorce from Valerie, and his entire world crashes down. His son, Jason, ends his relationship with Jodi Bradshaw and made early enrollment at the University of Oklahoma, with Joshua running out of town with his best friend, Jodi’s sister, April. Hurt by her husband’s decision, Valerie reaches out to Bradley, in an attempt to reconcile their marriage. When he fails to meet Valerie at a pre-scheduled meet point, she drives her SUV into the river; when the SUV is recovered and Valerie is not, Bradley has her declared legally dead.
Despite declaring her legally deceased, the search for Valerie continued. During such time, Bradley briefly reconnected with Dr. Leslie Bradshaw, a former lover from his past. This relationship caused Valerie’s sister, Victoria, to become insanely jealous, due to her unresolved feelings for Bradley. As he reunited with Leslie, another old flame made her return to town, Jillian Malone, who immediately stole his heart. Smitten by their love, they married at the stroke of midnight on New Years’ morning in 2003, despite the objection of the recently returned Joshua.
Enjoying married life, Bradley and Jillian’s lives are seemingly uninterrupted, until Jillian is attacked their home late one night. Jillian accused the presumed dead Valerie of the attack; shaken by his wife’s accusations, Bradley has Jillian checked into a mental facility, for a week’s long observation. When Jillian is later kidnapped, Bradley is lured to a restaurant where he celebrated his seventeenth wedding anniversary to Valerie, where he is confronted by Valerie herself. She blasts Bradley for leaving her, and marrying Jillian, which is why she attacked her. Upon the arrival of Jillian and Jodi — who is now married to Jaxson Hayes — spooks Valerie; despite this, Jillian and Valerie enter into a physical confrontation, which ultimately results in Jillian’s untimely death, after being thrown, by Valerie, over stairs.
Hoping to protect all involved, Bradley convinces Jodi and Valerie to keep their mouths shut about the real cause of Jillian’s death, instead telling them to state that Jillian had fallen by accident; Bradley later confesses to Jodi that he masterminded the coverup to protect their children, Jason and Joshua. Soon after, Bradley returns to work, in an attempt to keep himself busy. In December 2004, Bradley was asked by the hospital board at St. John’s Hospital to take the title of Chief of Emergency Medicine, a title he accepts. In 2008, during Hurricane Ike, while working triage, Bradley ordered an overdose of medication on a patient, an eight-year old boy, ultimately resulting in the child’s death, due to seizures, brought on from an allergic reaction from the medication prescribed.
As of result, the parents of the child filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Bradley and St. John’s Hospital, which was later settled out of court. Despite their support, Bradley resigned from his position of in Emergency Medicine, driven by the guilt of killing his first his first patient, a child, in his twenty years of practicing medicine.
Liberty City (2017–)
In May 2017, Bradley arrives in Liberty City and his names Chief of Staff at Liberty City Memorial, much to the surprise of hospital staffers and board members. While in town, Bradley immediately attempts to reconnect with Jodi, who has been living in town since leaving River’s Edge and The Bradshaw Corporation. Despite his efforts to reignite their brief fling, Jodi makes it known to him that their relationship is in the past, and that she has her sights set on her career.
